"Over Otpimization" in SEO
Many of the top search engines, especially Google, have algorythms to designed to spot and filter out sites that are too highly "omptimised", this is normally through the use of optimization "tricks" like keyword stuffing.
This is where a site has lots and lots of extra keywords hidden on the page, but you can't see them because they are in the same color as the page background. The search engines can see them and now penalise sites that use techniques like this.
It seems that it is now also possible to get your site penalised for simply having your keyword or phrase appear too many times.
This can happen quite easily if you start using your keyword for the name of every image, and the description of every image, and for internal page links, etc. etc.
So you do need to make sure your keyword frequency and density does not go overboard. Generally this should be a simple case of common sense, but there is a way your can check on what level of optimization would be ideal and avoid the possibility of over optimization..
